SquareTrade Customer’s Q&A
SquareTrade FAQs
About Squaretrade.com Payment Method?
SquareTrade.com offers a variety of payment methods. Users can set up and use a Digital Wallet for transactions. This wallet can be linked to a user's debit or credit card, providing a convenient way to pay without needing to physically handle cards or cash. The most popular digital wallets used are Apple Pay and Google Pay. These digital wallets come preinstalled on compatible phones, and users can add their preferred debit or credit card to set them up. These digital wallets use cybersecurity best practices and are as secure, if not more secure than most bank cards. They require biometric identity verification or a pin code, and use encryption technology that scrambles financial information to make it unrecognizable to anyone that might intercept it. In addition to this, if a user's primary Account payment method is determined to be expired, invalid or otherwise not able to be charged, SquareTrade may use a secondary payment method in the user's Account, if available. For certain transactions, such as insurance claims, the method of payment is cash.
Squaretrade.com Return Policy?
SquareTrade.com offers protection plans for various products. These plans cover all mechanical/electrical failures that happen during normal use, such as button failure, depleted (non-replaceable) batteries, and non-responsive charging ports or audio jacks. Plans that include accident protection also cover damage from accidents like drops and spills. The protection plan covers both repairs and replacements, including all costs for parts and labor in the case of repairs. However, SquareTrade warranties do not cover damage from normal wear and tear, misuse, negligence, loss, or theft. If your plan does not explicitly cover accidental damage, then your warranty will not cover drops, spills, etc.
Regarding the shipping policy, express shipping is free to and from SquareTrade’s depot, and you’ll be sent a special shipping box for fragile electronics. For desktops and TVs 37" or larger, a technician will be sent to your home. If SquareTrade can’t repair it, they’ll refund the purchase price of your device. Please note that devices with visibly damaged batteries (swollen, leaking, punctured, burned, etc.) should not be shipped. If your battery is removable, please remove the battery and keep it. Never ship standalone batteries. Do not ship any batteries over 100Wh battery capacity. If your battery is over 100Wh, please contact SquareTrade immediately.

About Squaretrade.com Popular Products and Services?
SquareTrade, also known as Allstate Protection Plans, offers a variety of extended warranties for items including appliances, electronics, and furniture. They have been changing the way people think about protection plans with service innovation and new technology. They are trusted by over 150 million customers to protect everything from smartphones to major appliances, power tools to furniture.
SquareTrade provides extended warranties for a wide range of products, including major home appliances. They also offer replacement plans which reimburse the customer for the cost of a replacement if a covered product breaks. The products they cover include cellphones, computers (including laptops, tablets, and desktop computers), televisions, watches and fitness trackers, furniture, and gaming gear.
They list four appliance warranty plans on their website—a dishwasher warranty, refrigerator warranty, washer/dryer warranty, and a coverage option for other appliances. However, all plans operate under the same “appliance warranty.” SquareTrade has two plans that cover appliances: a standard plan and a plan that includes accident protection. Coverage is only available for new appliances bought in the past 30 days.
The standard plan covers mechanical and electrical failures, unexpected leaks, power supply burnout, and issues where the appliance won’t power on. The plan with accident protection covers all of these, plus accidents like drops and spills. However, you won’t be able to submit a claim for physical (cosmetic) damage, replaceable parts (also referred to as “consumables”) such as bulbs, commercial use, intentional damage, loss or theft.
SquareTrade is an Allstate company that has been in business for more than 85 years and, coupled with Squaretrade, they have over 70 million active policies. They are preferred by 70% of consumers over their competitors and are partnered with many of the largest retailers and mobile carriers in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Japan. You can find them at Walmart, The Home Depot, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, Wayfair, Amazon, OfficeDepot, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Menards, eBay, HSN/QVC, B&H Photo, Bose, and other favorite places to shop.
About Squaretrade.com Prices and Cost?
SquareTrade is a subsidiary of Allstate, providing insurance plans for consumer electronics and appliances. These plans work in tandem with existing manufacturer warranties, covering anything that the basic warranty may not cover. Allstate Protection Plans last between two and three years depending on which plan you choose. Your SquareTrade warranty is considered active as soon as you complete your purchase.
The Allstate Protection Plan covers all mechanical/electrical failures that happen during normal use, such as button failure, depleted (non-replaceable) batteries, and non-responsive charging ports or audio jacks. Plans that include accident protection also cover damage from accidents like drops and spills. Your Allstate Protection Plan covers both repairs and replacements, including all costs for parts and labor in the case of repairs.
SquareTrade warranties do not cover damage from normal wear and tear, misuse, negligence, loss, or theft. If your plan does not explicitly cover accidental damage, then your warranty will not cover drops, spills, etc. Your SquareTrade warranty does not cover any damage, defect, or any other issue that occurs after the warranty period has expired or before it started. SquareTrade warranties never cover intentional damage.
The easiest way to buy a SquareTrade warranty is to shop Allstate Protection Plans on Costco.com. There, you can browse for the exact type of plan you need based on the type of device or appliance you plan on purchasing. If you purchase your device or appliance in person at a Costco Warehouse location, you will need to purchase your Protection Plan separately online.
Costco’s Allstate Protection Plans range in price from $29.99 to $399.99 depending on the price and type of item for which you are purchasing coverage. Plans range from $300 to $600 a year. Additional items or coverage options range from $100 to $500. Deductibles and service fees range from $75 to $125 for every claim made. At first glance, this makes SquareTrade seem cheaper than the average plan. There are no deductibles, and the plan cost is lower than the industry average.
What is SquareTrade?
SquareTrade is an American extended warranty service provider for consumer electronics and appliances. It was co-founded in 1999 by Steve Abernethy and Ahmed Khaishgi, and initially launched as the first online service for resolving e-commerce disputes. Over time, SquareTrade began providing consumer protection plans for portable devices, appliances, and other electronics, both online and through large retailers. In late 2016, SquareTrade was acquired by Allstate, and it now offers Allstate Protection Plans for mobile devices, laptops, tablets, and other consumer electronics and appliances. These plans are trusted by over 140 million customers and many of the largest retailers and mobile carriers in the world. The company is headquartered in San Francisco's SoMa district and serves customers worldwide.
Are there any fees for using specific payment methods on SquareTrade?
SquareTrade does not charge any additional fees for using specific payment methods. However, Square, the payment processor, does have transaction fees. For in-person transactions where a customer taps, dips, or swipes their card, the fee is 2.6% + 10 cents per transaction. For online purchases through the Square Online Store or eCommerce API, the fee is 2.9% + 30 cents. When an invoice is sent to a customer and a payment is taken, the fee is 3.3% + 30 cents for cards or 1% with a minimum $1 per transaction for ACH bank transfers. When card details are manually keyed in or a card on file is used, the fee is 3.5% + 15 cents. It's important to note that these fees are for processing payments and not specifically for using certain payment methods. Square accounts have no monthly fees or long-term contracts, and they can be cancelled at any time without penalty. The only ongoing cost of using Square is the payment processing fees. Please note that these fees are subject to change and it's always a good idea to check the latest information on the Square website.
What are the benefits of SquareTrade?
SquareTrade, now known as Allstate Protection Plans, offers a range of benefits. It provides extended warranties for a wide variety of electronic devices and major home appliances. These plans are generally cheaper than manufacturer warranties and come with no deductibles for repair services. The coverage varies by plan, but can cover defects, malfunctions, and accidental damage. However, it may not cover everything such as cosmetic damage or pre-existing conditions.
SquareTrade is known for its robust customer service with lines open 24 hours a day. Customers can easily file claims and check on the status of filed claims through their robust online portal. The company also replaces insured items under certain conditions.
Another key perk to choosing SquareTrade is that the monthly plans they offer are relatively inexpensive. For instance, coverage for a top-of-the-line smartphone could be around five dollars a month. They also offer family plans that further decrease the overall cost of extended warranty plans.
It's important to note that while SquareTrade plans do offer coverage for accidental damage, they do not cover loss or theft. Therefore, customers looking for coverage for loss and theft might need to check competitors.
In conclusion, SquareTrade’s extended warranty plans can be worth the money under certain conditions and for certain consumers. It is important to understand the details of their coverage before making a decision.
